Is Fracking Falling Out of Favor?

Fracking has always been controversial.

Fracking has never enjoyed widespread popularity among Americans, and even though it has been beneficial in a number of ways, it has always been a controversial topic. Some people see that fracking has brought jobs, independence and economic stability to the United States while others are concerned about our drinking water, earthquakes and other environmental issues. Unfortunately, it seems like some of the support for fracking has started to diminish, and more and more people are starting to oppose it.

Is fracking falling our of favor with Americans?

In March of last year, a Gallup poll was taken. This poll posed the question, “Do you favor or oppose hydraulic fracturing or ‘fracking’ as a means of increasing the production of natural gas and oil in the U.S.?” Around 40 percent of participants favored, 40 percent opposed and 19 percent had no opinion on the matter. A new Gallup poll posed the same question in March of this year, and the numbers have changed dramatically. Now only 36 percent of participants favored, 51 percent opposed and 13 percent had no opinion. Even Republicans, the party that has a reputation for supporting the oil and gas industry, saw an 11 percent drop in fracking favorability since last year.

Fracking has helped our country in so many ways, but it cannot continue to do so if more and more Americans oppose it. It’s time to improve the fracking industry, and luckily, Well Water Solutions can help. We offer a variety of solutions, such as high-quality frac tanks and water treatment, that make fracking safer and better for the environment. Stay tuned for our next blog to learn more.
